DEEP ASIA RECOVERY & EXPLORATION (DARE) is a shipwreck salvage, artifacts and treasure recovery company operating out of Southeast Asia. Due to the fact that Southeast Asia has a long and rich maritime history with numerous promising underwater sites, DARE has its overseas office based in centrally located Singapore. Singapore is the business and high-tech hub of Southeast Asia and its central location makes it ideal for mobilizing our vessels, equipment and personnel out of. Our goal is to research, locate, salvage and recover some of the billions of dollars worth of sunken artifacts and treasures which are currently lying on the sea bed throughout Southeast Asia. DARE had determined that these rich artifacts and treasures can best be recovered by; 1) Developing and/or using the latest state-of-the-art surveying and underwater salvage and recovery technology. 2) Employing the services of the most experienced and capable personnel (divers, marine surveyors, ROV personnel, underwater archaeologist, maritime researchers, etc.). 3) Sea sites will be approached in five (5) phases (see details within 'Potential Sea Sites' page). 4) Extensive maritime research obtained from worldwide sources. 5) Working 'hand-in-hand' together with the respective Governments with everything being done on a Joint Venture and above-the-table basis. 6) To protect and preserve Southeast Asia's maritime history. |
ABOUT DARE |
Tony Wells (American who had been living and working out of Singapore since the early 80's). Mr. Wells was originally a deep-sea commercial diver working in the oil fields throughout Asia and America. In 1989, Mr. Wells became involved in treasure hunting when he was hired as the photographer, ROV pilot, and assistant surveyor to search for one of the most famous Portuguese galleons that ever sank, the Flor do Mar. After doing extensive research on Southeast Asia's maritime history, Mr. Wells is an author and maritime researcher who has wrote several books, including one titled, Shipwrecks & Sunken Treasure in Southeast Asia (published by, TIMES Editions, Singapore, 1995) and also his personal memoirs titled, Black Man Under The Deep Blue Sea - Memoirs of a Black Commercial Diver in Southeast Asia (published by, PublishAmerica, 2007) as well as several other books and articles. |
DARE PERSONNEL |
Zilan Ahmad (Singaporean) has over 20 years' experience as a commercial deep sea diver and has worked in the offshore oilfield industry since the early 1980s. Mr. Ahmad has been involved in shipwreck salvage since the mid 1990s and has worked on numerous projects. |
OTHER PERSONNEL There are three (3) main groups which will be involved in this Joint-Venture project. They are as follows; 1) Various Governments Departments - Cultural Department, National Committee, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, etc.. 2) DARE, (consisting of several International expert salvage & diving team members). Team also includes; " Other DARE Personnel - Who's services are available on a free-lance basis including but not limited to: experienced divers, marine surveyors, ROV personnel, underwater archaeologist, maritime researchers, etc. Whenever possible we plan to use local divers during our salvage operations to keep expenses down. 3) Investor Consortium - Provides project funding. WHY THIS TREASURE RECOVERY PROJECT WILL BE SUCCESSFUL After more than 20 years research, DARE (and its network of associates which include, US and International maritime researchers, various professionals of all nationalities, Eye-witnesses (and other sources) has gathered information on several promising underwater sea sites. This information comes as a direct result of; detailed on-site project studies, maritime research, books, journals, interviews with eye-witnesses, directly involved personnel, news paper articles, local divers and fishermen and various other resources. Other reasons we shall be successful include (but are not limited to) the following; 1) We have in our maritime research and insider information which greatly aids in our locating and recovery operations. 2) Recent new developments in modern technology of scanning and detecting equipment. IRG will be using the latest state-of-the-art technology to search for, locate and recover the above mentioned undersea objects. This new technology will give DARE the leading edge over all other salvage companies world-wide and in the Southeast Asian region. 3) We have an extensive network of personnel within the various Southeast Asian countries who are constantly gathering detailed information on sea sites throughout the archipelago. 4) The most important factor for a successful salvage operation here is that we believe that we should be working together and with complete transparency in a Joint Venture with the various Government departments and agencies. 5) Unlike some groups which are only after quick recoveries and profits, our maingoal will be to protect and preserve Southeast Asia's maritime history. With the blessing of all of the above, sufficient financing, proper research, the most experienced and capable personnel, and the most advanced high-tech equipment - there is genuine belief our recovery operations will be successful. |
